Mr Amit Shah – Orthopaedic Surgeon

I’ve been immersed in orthopaedics since 1998 and hold six orthopaedic qualifications — three from India and three from the UK, including the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics). I’m on the GMC Specialist Register and practice as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics, with a focus on hips and knees.

Since 2003, I’ve been based in the North West, training under exceptional surgeons at leading hospitals, including Wrightington Hospital — one of the UK’s centres of excellence — where I was the John Charnley Fellow, specialising in complex hip and knee conditions.

My approach centres on clear, ethical, and practical consultations. I believe in explaining the problem simply, outlining all treatment options, and ensuring patients feel informed and supported — whether that means physiotherapy, injections, keyhole surgery, or joint replacement.

Outside of work, I’m a proud dad of two, a cricket enthusiast (mostly watching these days), a regular swimmer, and an occasional enjoyer of a fine single malt.
