About me

Dr Tim Gatheral read medicine as an undergraduate at Cambridge University, followed by post-graduate training in London. This included the award of a PhD from Imperial College London after a period of research at the National Heart and Lung Institute.

Dr Gatheral works as a consultant respiratory physician at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. He is part of the North Lancashire and South Cumbria Interstitial Lung Disease Network and holds the post of senior clinical lecturer at Lancaster University Medical School. He is currently the director of research and development at Morecambe Bay Trust.

Areas of interest

Dr Gatheral has wide experience in respiratory medicine including lung fibrosis, chronic cough, lung cancer, and airway diseases including asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis.
